The Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) recently honoured Carleton’s David Rogers, Canada Research Chair in Medical Physics, as this year’s winner of the Gold Medal Award — the highest award given by COMP.

The award recognizes a member who has worked mainly in Canada, has had an outstanding career and has made a significant contribution to the field of medical physics in Canada, defined in part as a body of work which has added to the knowledge base of medical physics in such a way as to fundamentally alter the practice of medical physics.

Rogers and his team are advancing the field of problem solving in radiation science. He regularly attracts top international post-doctoral fellows and has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications, which are cited extensively. Recently he has been recognized with a Carleton University Research Achievement Award, and most notably was awarded the 2010 Coolidge Award, the highest award given by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. He is only the fourth Canadian to win this prestigious award.
