Associate Vice-President (Strategic Initiatives and Operations)

Sandra Crocker was appointed to the newly created position of Associate Vice-President (Strategic Initiatives and Operations) in May 2011. Reporting to the Vice-President (Research & International) she is part of the senior management group responsible for planning, developing and implementing a comprehensive research support strategy for Carleton, and oversees the Industry and Partnership Services department.

Ms. Crocker has an accomplished career in research management, most recently holding positions at McGill University as Assistant Vice-Principal (Strategic Planning and Partnerships) in the Office of the Vice-Principal (Research and International Relations). Prior to this she had a long career at Queen’s University culminating as Associate Vice-Principal (Research), where she was responsible for promoting research initiatives involving cross-disciplinary teams of researchers and external industrial and community partners.

She currently holds positions on the Boards of Directors of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory Institute, the Consortia Advancing Standards in Research Administration, the Consortium for Aerospace Research and Innovation in Canada, as well as the Centre of Excellence in Next Generation Networks.  She is a member of CANARIE’s Software Technology Advisory Committee, OAC’s Research &Technology Committee, AIAC’s Innovation and Technology Committee and AGEWELL’s Committee for Technology Development and Commercialization.  Most recently, she has joined the Advisory Board for NRC’s Construction Research Centre.
