Community Foundations of Canada is launching its first quality of life report focused on youth on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Carleton University.

Canada’s Vital Signs 2012 – Vital Youth shows seismic shifts are shaking our nation’s youth as they enter adulthood, a “new normal” communities and policy-makers must address.

Ian Bird, president and CEO of Community Foundations of Canada, will release the findings at the School of Public Policy and Administration, Dunton Tower, 20th floor at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 2.  At this point he will present the report and an accompanying video and respond to questions.

CFC is also hosting a press conference in the Charles Lynch Room (Centre Block) on Parliament Hill at noon and will then meet with representatives from federal political parties.

The events coincide with the launch of 14 local Vital Signs 2012 reports in communities across the country.

“Providing communities with the information they need to make critical decisions about their future is just one of the many ways community foundations help to build smart and caring communities,” said Bird.

A day-long Vital Youth Dialogue and Design workshop, to move from research to action, will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Media are invited to attend between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
