Dr. Florence Dzierszinski has accepted the position of Director of the Carleton University Research Office (CURO) effective immediately. Florence has been with the Office for a year, firstly as Manager, Research Programs, and, for the past six months, as Interim Director where she has effectively led the implementation of the restructured office, demonstrated service excellence in the provision of new and improved  levels of support for faculty, and taken on a number of national leadership roles in research administration on behalf of Carleton.

Florence comes to us after a successful early researcher career, culminating as a Canada Research Chair, Tier 2 at McGill University in the Institute of Parasitology.

Dr. Dzierszinkski brings an experienced eye to helping support new research programs at Carleton, having herself successfully applied for many operating and equipment grants from various agencies, including within the Tri-Council (CIHR, NSERC), the CRC and CFI programs, NIH, and various foundations.

Rounding out her understanding of the peer review process, she has been a member of the review panel in a FQRNT committee, and often acts as an ad hoc reviewer for various organizations, including the Wellcome Trust, NSF (National Science Foundation), NSERC, Medical Research Scotland, Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation, FRSQ, FQRNT.

Of particular interest as we expand our research activities, Florence is also familiar with research funding organizations in the U.S. (NIH, NSF, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) and in Europe (commission européenne CORDIS-EUROPA, CNRS, INSERM), as well as international collaborative funding programs.
