The Rights and Wrongs of Girls: From Representation to Redress — A Roundtable Discussion

On May 30th, close to 50 guests gathered to explore the issue further.

After experiencing a curated tour of the photo exhibit by Dr. Robert Evans, they engaged in a roundtable discussion exploring contemporary issues in the human rights of girls, including how girls and their rights are represented and implicated in the ways we imagine national and global identities.

The roundtable participants further explored issues of girls’ rights in the context of marriage, sexuality, armed conflict, motherhood, and criminal law.  The aim of the roundtable was to foster an open, public discussion of the dynamic and gendered contexts in which girls find themselves living in socially, culturally, economically, and politically complicated ways.
