Carleton University’s Mark Forbes, a professor of biology and associate vice-president (Research), has been honoured with the 2014 Robert Arnold Wardle Award by the Parasitism, Immunity and Environment Section of the Canadian Society of Zoologists. The award recognizes Forbes’ outstanding contributions to Canadian-based research on the interrelationships among infectious agents, the response of animals to these agents and the environment in which these relationships exist.
As part of the award, Forbes delivered a lecture on parasitism, immunity, and the ecology of dragonflies at the meeting of Canadian Society of Zoologists in Montreal, QC. This represents the first joint meeting of the Canadian Society of Zoologists (CSZ), Canadian Society for Ecology and Evolution (CSEE) and the Canadian Society of Limnologists (CSL).
“I’m honoured to have received this award and I very much enjoyed delivering the Wardle Lecture,” said Forbes. “The annual meeting of the Canadian Society of Zoologists has provided my students and I with an exciting platform to deliver research results, over the years. My being nominated and chosen for the Wardle Award would not have been possible without my students’ collective hard work and their continued insights.”
