The Carleton University Azrieli School of Architecture presents Collective Visions, an exhibition of work by this year’s graduating class of 58 students in the Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS) program, at the Carleton University Art Gallery (CUAG) from April 9 to April 12, 2015.

When: Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 6 p.m. with an introduction by Australian architect Bud Brannigan, the current Azrieli visiting critic in the Master of Architecture program.

“The work of our students graduating from the design major in the Bachelor of Architectural Studies is a wonderful showcase of talent and the collaboration with the CUAG is an exceptional opportunity to allow the public and the architectural community to see this young design talent in such a great gallery space,” said Sheryl Boyle, interim director at the Azrieli School of Architecture.
Collective Visions presents design projects located in Ottawa and Montreal that challenge and explore the relationship between architecture and current social, cultural, political and ecological concerns. With work that represents the very best of craft and technique in drawing, rendering and model-making from Carleton’s architecture design students, the exhibition presents visions on the role architecture plays in the continuing transformation of our urban environment.
Students will present design projects responding to one of four challenges: indeterminacy, strangeness and the public realm around Chaudière Falls on the border between Ottawa and Gatineau; performance space in Old Montréal; a new ecological vision for Kanata; and a new market in the Bayview/Lebreton Flats area of Ottawa. Together, these address questions that are central to the discipline of architecture. The range of the inquiry and the rich variety of work presented will resonate with broad audiences.
