Please note the following message from the Vice-President (Research and International):

As a follow up to my message last February regarding the reorganization of the OVPRI portfolio, we have made considerable progress on the implementation of the structural changes first introduced by my predecessor Nimal Rajapakse.

I am pleased to be able to share with you the revised structure of the Office of the Vice-President (Research and International).

Effective May 1, OVPRI consists of the following groups:

Industry and Partnership Services (IPS), led by Sandra Crocker, Associate Vice-President (Strategic Initiatives and Operations). This group handles industry-leveraged programs, contracts and agreements, and the strategic innovation portfolio.

Carleton Office for Research Initiatives and Services (CORIS), led by Andrea Lawrance, Interim Director. This office is focused on the growth of Carleton’s research portfolio and its external research funding. CORIS offers support and services to faculty members across the university and manages pre- and post-award services, facilitation of grants, prizes and awards, research administration, and works closely with the faculty-based research facilitators.

Carleton International, led by Pauline Rankin, Associate Vice-President (Research and International), which manages international MOUs and partnerships, visiting scholars and dignitaries, social innovation and international funding opportunities. It also has oversight on the Global Academy and the Canada-India Centre.

Human Research Ethics, led by Dr. Gordon DuVal, Director, Office of Research Ethics, who provides leadership on human ethics, acts as an advisor, and liaises with external institutions.

Animal Ethics and Biohazards, led by Kerri Nielsen, University Veterinarian and Director of Research Compliance, with oversight on Animal Care, Biohazards, Controlled Goods, and Security Clearance (in partnership with Environmental Health and Safety).

Research Communications, led by Julie Carl, Manager. This portfolio is responsible for the promotion of faculty research at Carleton.

We believe these realignments will greatly enhance and improve our services. I invite you to update your records accordingly, and to contact me should you have any questions.
