About<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Launched in 2018, the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF)<\/a> funds interdisciplinary<\/strong>, high-risk \/ high-reward, transformative<\/strong> research led by Canadian researchers working with Canadian and international partners. The NFRF<\/abbr> is designed to support world-leading innovation and enhance Canada\u2019s competitiveness and expertise in the global, knowledge-based economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This fund seeks to inspire innovative research projects that push boundaries into exciting new areas and that have the potential to deliver game-changing impacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To meet its goals, the NFRF<\/abbr> program is innovative in its design and implementation. Its novel merit review processes reflect the objectives of each funding opportunity, and the program offers flexibility in the use of grant funds to support international collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NFRF<\/abbr> is under the strategic direction of the Canada Research Coordinating Committee<\/a>. It is administered by the Tri-agency Institutional Programs Secretariat, which is housed within the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council<\/a> (SSHRC), on behalf of Canada\u2019s three federal research funding agencies: SSHRC<\/abbr>, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research<\/a> and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
