These grants support research projects led by strong, complementary, collaborative teams that will generate new knowledge and accelerate the application of research results to create benefits for Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alliance Advantage grants (formerly Alliance cost-sharing option 1) are for partner-driven projects. They fund projects focused on the partners\u2019 goals, with at least one partner sharing in the costs of research. Research supported by Alliance Advantage grants will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>generate new knowledge and\/or technology to address complex challenges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>create economic, environmental and\/or other societal benefits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>contribute to Canada\u2019s long-term competitiveness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>support public policy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>train new researchers in areas that are important to Canada and partner organizations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>draw on diverse perspectives and skill sets to accelerate the translation and application of research results<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*Update*<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Effective immediately, all <strong>new Advantage applications may request up to 66.7% of the project costs (2:1 leverage) from NSERC<\/strong>, regardless of partner organization&nbsp;size or sector. This change does not affect or apply to applications submitted prior to June 23, 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The remainder of the NSERC website and other program materials have not yet been updated to reflect this change. The above statement supersedes information on Advantage cost sharing.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"eligibility\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are a Canadian university researcher who is <a href=\"http:\/\/nserc-crsng.gc.ca\/NSERC-CRSNG\/Eligibility-Admissibilite\/faculty-corpsprof_eng.asp\">eligible<\/a> to receive NSERC funds, you can apply on your own or as a team with co-applicants who are also <a href=\"http:\/\/nserc-crsng.gc.ca\/NSERC-CRSNG\/Eligibility-Admissibilite\/faculty-corpsprof_eng.asp\">eligible<\/a> academic researchers.
