Funding Value and Duration<\/h2>\n

Each AACSFA award is limited to $250,000 for up to three years.<\/p>\n

Each AARGA award is limited to a total of $200,000 (direct and indirect costs) for a duration of up to three years.<\/p>\n

Overview<\/h2>\n

Brain Canada is excited to partner with the\u202fAlzheimer\u2019s Association on the\u202fInternational Research Grant Program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Alzheimer\u2019s Association International Research Grant Program (IRGP) funds research that will advance our understanding of Alzheimer\u2019s disease, identify new treatment strategies, improve care for people with dementia and further our knowledge of brain health and disease prevention.<\/p>\n

Through a partnership with the Alzheimer\u2019s Association, Brain Canada will be funding\u202fCanadian-led teams who meet peer review recommendations.<\/p>\n

Alzheimer\u2019s Association Clinician Scientist Fellowship for All (AACSFA)<\/a>
\nOpen to clinician scientists, which are as defined as an individual already trained, licensed and practicing in a clinical field that includes patient contact or patient-related diagnostic studies, this program supports the training of clinician scientists in the field of Alzheimer\u2019s and all other dementias.<\/p>\n

Alzheimer\u2019s Association Research Grant For All (AARGA)<\/a>
\nWith the aim of providing newly independent investigators with funding that will allow them to develop preliminary or pilot data, to test procedures and to develop hypotheses, this program supports early-career researchers who have been in the position of an Assistant Professor or the equivalent for no more than seven years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Eligibility Criteria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

– The Alzheimer\u2019s Association recognizes the need to increase the number of scientists from underrepresented groups in the research enterprise for Alzheimer\u2019s and related dementia. Scientists from these groups are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Applications will be accepted from postdoctoral fellows (or an equivalent level position) with full-time (but not continuing \/ tenured) positions at their respective academic institution or VA* and less than 10 years of research experience after receipt of their doctorate (Ph.D) or other advanced terminal degree (MD, MBBS, DO, JD, PharmD, ScD or similar).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Adjustments to this eligibility period may be considered for documented career interruptions such as family leave, military service, or major illness or injury. The approval of any exemptions must be obtained prior to submitting a LOI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Only one primary PI per application. Multiple PI projects are not allowed. However, collaborators may be included as key personnel on the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– The Alzheimer\u2019s Association reserves the right to request further documentation to confirm eligibility of an applicant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
