Hymie Anisman

Canada Research Professor in Behavioural Neuroscience

Hymie Anisman is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Behavioral Neuroscience. His research assesses both animal and human models of stress and affective disorders, such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. In collaboration with Kimberly Matheson, he has been assessing psychosocial factors that contribute to mental health.  In the past few years, they, along with Dr. Amy Bombay at the Institute of Mental Health Research have been evaluating the cross-generational effects of the Indian Residential Schools on Aboriginal communities and the health of the children of survivors.
