Canada Research Professor in Behavioural Neuroscience

Shawn Hayley is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Professor in the Department of Neuroscience. His research examines how the immune system influences neuroplasticity of the brain and consequently a variety of behaviors. As well, Dr. Hayley has been focused on how inflammation within the brain can cause neuronal degeneration and contribute to the onset and progression of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Current projects in Dr. Hayley’s laboratory includes exploring how environmental factors, such as pesticides, may be important triggers for PD and other neurological conditions.
