Changes can include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>cu_people_job_title change<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adding\/changing research team members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recruiting participants from an additional source<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any other changes to your protocol<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In all cases, you must submit a change to protocol\/addendum request outlining the proposed changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"toggle_container\">\n<h4><strong><span class=\"slide-cu_people_job_title\">Do I need to inform the REB if some unforeseen event happens while conducting research?<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Yes. you must contact the <a href=\"mailto:ethics@carleton.ca\">Research Ethics Coordinators<\/a> immediately (ethics@carleton.ca) if any unforeseen event happens.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"toggle_container\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"should-incidental-findings-be-communicated-to-participants\" class=\"wp-block-heading toggle_container\"><strong><span class=\"slide-cu_people_job_title\">Should incidental findings be communicated to participants?<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"trigger active\">According to the Tri-Council Policy:&nbsp; <i>Incidental findings is a term that describes unanticipated discoveries made in the course of research but that are outside the scope of the research. Material incidental findings are findings that have been interpreted as having significant welfare implications for the participant, whether health-related, psychological or social. <\/i>(pg.34)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"trigger active\">Researchers are obligated to disclose any material incidental findings to participants.In some cases, incidental findings may be such that they prompt legal reporting obligations (e.g., law enforcement or child welfare agency).
