For outstanding researchers in the early stages of their career who are pursuing postdoctoral studies or have recently started a faculty appointment in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, or economic science.

Eligibility
For the 2025-26 competition, applicants must have received their PhD on or after September 1, 2021. Those who have not received their PhD must be confident they will complete it by May 31, 2025. Extensions are granted for eligible leaves.
Deadline
January 31, 2025
Institutional Quota
Institutions can submit three applications for each of the five areas of study.
How to Apply
Internal Process
If the number of interested candidates exceeds the institutional quota, a committee will be struck to rank the candidates and determine which will proceed to the external competition.
External Submission Steps
The Dean of Graduate Studies submits the completed applications directly to the Council of Ontario Universities. The applications must be accompanied by a signed letter from the Dean of Graduate Studies.
A cuResearch Approval Form is needed prior to submission.
