Value and Duration

$100,000 over five years.

Eligibility

For the 2024 competition, applicants must have completed their PhD on or after January 1, 2013, and have started their independent academic career on or after January 1, 2018. Extensions are granted for eligible career leaves.

Special Requirements

The candidate’s home faculty must contribute $25,000 in matching funds. The Office of the Vice-President (Research, Innovation and International) (OVPRII) will provide the remaining $25,000.

How to Apply

Internal Process

The Carleton Office for Research Initiatives and Services (CORIS) will provide intensive support for three to five candidates from each faculty. Each faculty will be responsible for identifying and/or selecting these candidates. Intensive support includes: holding kick-off meetings, contacting referees and securing letters of reference, reviewing all application materials, supporting budget development, administrative review and submission.

CORIS will provide limited support to any additional candidates supported by their faculty. This includes administrative review and submission.

External Submission Steps

OVPRII coordinates the submission of the nomination package. Each nomination must include a letter signed by the Vice-President (Research, Innovation and International).

A cuResearch Approval Form is needed prior to submission.
