Carleton REALISE
Carleton REALISE, which stands for REsearch ALlIance SEries, is an internal initiative out of the Office of the Vice-President (Research, Innovation and International) (OVPRII). REALISE incentivizes, supports, increases and leverages multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research across campus.
Created in 2019, REALISE connected Carleton faculty and staff across disciplines through in-person and virtual events.
In 2023, it was re-launched as a central convening, generative space for new and expanding multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research, with the objective of securing additional research funding for Carleton projects.
Current REALISE Activities
- Incentivize new multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research collaborations through internal opportunities, such as the REALISE Seed Grant, workshops and supporting research teams.
- Help identify existing and emerging multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research areas through consultations, environmental scans and reports.
- Leverage critical mass of expertise across campus to increase Carleton leadership and standing regionally and nationally in existing and emerging key research areas.
- Organize internal and outwardly facing events to build capacity within our research community, as well as strengthen and establish collaborations with external partners across a diversity of sectors (public, private, non-profit, community).
- Create resources and events to support the Carleton research community with multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research writ large.
Streams of Support
Stream 1: Flagship events and incentivizing new multi/interdisciplinary collaborations.
Stream 2: Support existing and emerging multi/interdisciplinary research clusters, teams and themes.
