France Canada Research Fund: New Research Collaboration Program

The New Research Collaboration Program funds new collaborations between French and Canadian teams in all fields of research. The grant is awarded to two-year projects in amounts ranging from $8,000 to $15,000 CAD to support the mobility of researchers and their students between the two countries. All institutions in France are eligible as partners.

The France Canada Research Fund (FCRF) is a major instrument of Franco-Canadian scientific cooperation, created in 2000 through an agreement between the French Embassy in Canada and a consortium of Canadian universities. It is currently made up of 23 member universities and supports 15 new projects each year under the New Research Collaboration Program, which promotes interdisciplinary collaborations and the training of young researchers.

Value and Duration

The grants are awarded for a period of two years. The amounts can vary from $8,000 to $15,000 CAD to cover mobility expenses for visits between France and Canada. The funding is transferred to the Canadian institution.

Eligibility

Tenured or tenure-track faculty members in any field of research are eligible. The Principal investigator (PI) must not have previously obtained joint research funding. The proposed project must include graduate students or postdoctoral fellows.

How to Apply

  1. Submit your EOI to Sylvie Jasen, FCRF correspondent at Carleton. Sylvie will provide information on the competition and will obtain an institutional signature on the application. Please note that the OVPRII Approval Form in cuResearch must be submitted and approvals provided before the institutional signature is secure.
  2. Please read the program guidelines and complete the application form.
  3. Sylvie will provide feedback on applications. If you would like additional assistance with proposal development and/or a substantive review of your proposal, please contact your Faculty Research Facilitator.
  4. Send your final application to Sylvie for submission to FCRF by November 14, 2025.
