Description
The Ignite Innovation Grants program is designed to support the development and testing of transformative, paradigm‑shifting ideas that address critical barriers in arthritis research and care. The program encourages projects that challenge existing assumptions about arthritis, its management, and service delivery, and that have strong potential to generate novel approaches to preventing, diagnosing, or treating arthritis and related conditions.
The program places a deliberate emphasis on high‑risk, high‑reward research. Supported projects may include, but are not limited to, novel tool or technology development, new cellular or biological pathways, behavioural or psychosocial methodologies, research addressing social or structural inequities, innovative approaches to delivering evidence‑based care or self‑management interventions, and unconventional devices, techniques, or measures with translational potential. Preliminary data is not necessary.
Funding Value
Up to $50,000 CAD per year for up to 2 years, for a maximum total value of $100,000 CAD per project.
Eligibility Criteria
The Principal Investigator must be based at, or formally affiliated with, an eligible Canadian host institution, such as a university, research institute, or health care organization.
There is a limit of one Ignite Innovation application per Principal Investigator/Co-Principal Investigator in a competition.
A PI can only hold two Arthritis Society Canada-funded grants or awards across all Arthritis Society Canada or partnered competitions as PI/Co-PI at any time and only one per program.
