Overview

ECCC is launching a new call for applications for a funding opportunity to engage experts in environmental science and advance projects that address critical environmental issues, such as climate change and nature.

Applicants can apply to the following streams for projects that will start in the April 2026 to March 2027 fiscal year:

• Stream 1: Research, modelling and risk assessment​
• Stream 2: Nature research
• Stream 3: Research and analysis to support Canada’s path to net zero

Note that funding calls such as the Environmental Damages Fund and the Climate Action and Awareness Fund fall under Stream 3.

Submitting Your Application

1. Submit an internal Approval Form through our central awards management database cuResearch. Consult the user’s manual for guidance.
2. Submit an external application by logging into Grants and Contributions Enterprise Management System (GCEMS) and navigating to the “funding opportunities” page. Look for the Canada Environmental Science Opportunity with the related stream and theme. Once you have selected an opportunity, download the Applicant Guide under the “publication and resources” section.
