Indigenous and Northern Collaborative Research and Education Engagement Fund
In recognition of a commitment to respectful, ethical and deeply collaborative partnerships with Indigenous and Northern people and UArctic values, the Indigenous and Northern Collaborative Research and Education Engagement Fund supports:
- Researchers: in strengthening existing relationships for potential collaborative, co-created projects.
- Relationships: for research, education and engagement partnership initiatives between Indigenous and Northern regions and researchers, faculty, staff and students of UArctic member institutions.
- Partnership Projects: that meet the needs of Indigenous and Northern people and communities.

Value and Duration
For this funding year only, the funding is divided into two separate streams:
- Stream A: up to $40,000 for two-year projects (a maximum of five will be awarded). Two-year projects must be completed by September 2028.
- Stream B: up to $100,000 for five-year projects (a maximum of six will be awarded). Five-year projects must be completed by September 2031.
Funding cannot be applied retroactively or used for previously completed activities.
Eligibility
The lead applicant must be based at a Canadian UArctic member institution.
Applicants may only hold one Indigenous and Northern Collaborative Research and Education Engagement Fund award at a time.

Special Requirements
Collaboration among Canadian member institutions, other Canadian partners and international UArctic institutions is strongly encouraged.
All projects must involve a minimum of three UArctic member institutions, including at least one international member.

- Applicants are encouraged to discuss this funding opportunity with their Faculty Research Facilitator.
- Log in to cuResearch and submit an internal Carleton Approval Form.
- Applications must be completed and submitted through Memorial University’s application portal. Incomplete or late applications will not be evaluated.
