Overview

The International Mobility Award is designed to support Canadian faculty and eligible small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the early stages of consortium-building and proposal development under Pillar II of Horizon Europe. It provides short-term funding to facilitate travel and in-person engagements with European collaborators, addressing a well-recognized barrier to meaningful participation in one of the world’s largest research funding frameworks.

Value

Awards will be valued at up to $5,000 CAD per traveller (maximum $10,000 per award).

Eligibility

Applications must be submitted by two travellers, either a pair of faculty members from different post-secondary institutions or a faculty member and a representative from a Canadian industry SME. Applications must not include more than two travellers. There are no restrictions on academic disciplines or industry sectors; however, fields must align with Horizon Europe calls for proposals and/or corresponding European research consortia.

Submitting Your Application

  1. Submit an internal Approval Form through our central awards management database cuResearch. Consult the user’s manual for guidance.
  2. Submit an external application to Mitacs by following their submission guidelines.
