Carleton University Research Ethics Board-B

CUREB-B reviews all Human Research applications where the lead Carleton University researcher is in the:

• Faculty of Engineering and Design
• Faculty of Science
• Department of Psychology
• Institute of Cognitive Science

OR

Regardless of the faculty or department, research involving any of the following:

• Collection of biological specimens or bodily fluids (e.g., blood, saliva, tissue samples)
• Use of a bio-instrument (e.g., electrodes, MRI/X-ray imaging, sensors for blood pressure or temperature)
• Use of a bio-intervention (e.g., administration of a drug by mouth or injection, drug testing, medical devices, rehabilitative exercise programs, mental health programs, inducing moderate or severe physical or biological or pharmacological stress)

CUREB-B holds monthly meetings virtually to review full board protocols, amendments and annual reviews.

New Submissions

We respond to new submissions in 2-5 business days, however October to March the response time may lengthen.

CUREB-B protocols will be reviewed based on the level of risk:

• Applications deemed to be minimal risk will be sent for delegated review as they are received.
• Protocols determined to be greater than minimal risk will require full board review and will be reviewed at the next scheduled meeting.
