Horizon Europe Partnership Development Grant

The Horizon Europe Partnership Development Grant is an internal funding program that supports Carleton faculty members in developing networks or partnerships towards submitting a project with a consortium to a Horizon Europe Pillar II call for proposals.

Funds can be used for developing new or existing partnerships with researchers in European Union (EU) member states and associated countries by attending conferences, matchmaking events or in-person meetings for establishing a consortium or preliminary planning for a Horizon Europe proposal. The grant does not fund research project activities with an international partner.

About Horizon Europe Pillar II

Horizon Europe is the EU’s main research and innovation program and the world’s largest, with a total budget of €95.5 billion (2021-2027). Canada joined Horizon Europe in July 2024 as an associate country under Pillar II: Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness. Pillar II grants typically range from €4-15 million.

Pillar II is organized around six clusters (i.e., themes). Within each cluster are a number of calls for proposals with corresponding topics, which have unique criteria and deadlines. All applications must involve projects developed by a consortium (partnership of organizations across different nations, including a European member state and a Horizon Europe-associated country).

Eligibility

All full-time Carleton faculty members of professional rank (assistant, associate and full) are eligible to apply.

Value and Duration

The award provides up to CAD$10,000. Depending on the number of applications received and the availability of funds, projects may be partially funded.

Grants are awarded for one year. No extensions will be granted.
