Sustainability

Our researchers investigate fundamental elements of our natural and built environments, the impacts of climate change, and how sustainability translates into effective policy. See major sustainability projects:

NSERC Permafrost Partnership Network for Canada

Stephan Gruber (Geography and Environmental Studies) leads this $9.1 million project funded largely by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

Transforming Places For the Precariously Housed

Elisabeth Gilmore (Civil and Environmental Engineering; Public Policy and Administration) leads this $4 million multidisciplinary project most recently funded by the New Frontiers in Research Fund.

Using Genomic Tools for the Mountain Pine Beetle Outbreak

Catherine Cullingham (Science) leads this $6.4 million project primarily supported by Genome Canada.

Flare Emissions from Unconventional Oil and Gas Extraction and Processing

Matthew Johnson (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering) leads this $7.2 million project most recently funded by Natural Resources Canada.

Abilities Living Laboratory

Adrian Chan (Systems and Computer Engineering) leads this $5.9 million multidisciplinary project primarily funded by Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and Ontario Research Fund (ORF).

Prison Transparency Project

Dawn Moore (Law and Legal Studies) leads this $4.5 million project recently funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

Carleton University Centre for Advanced Studies in Visualization and Simulation

Chris Herdman (Cognitive Science and Psychology) leads this $26.9 million project supported by the CFI, ORF and Ontario Innovation Trust, among others.

Connectivity
