Andrea Lawrance joined Carleton in 2011 and has served as the Director of the Carleton Office for Research Initiatives and Services (CORIS) since 2018. Before taking on this role, she served as the Interim Director of CORIS for 1.5 years, and as a Research Facilitator in Carleton’s Faculty of Science for nearly 5.5 years.

Andrea holds a PhD in Human Genetics from McGill University and a BSc in Biochemistry from McMaster University. Her research focused on the effect of genetic and nutritional disturbances in folate metabolism on tumorigenesis in mouse models of colon cancer and she has co-authored a number of papers in top-ranked journals in this field.

In her role as Director, Andrea is committed to service excellence and implements policies and procedures for effective grant administration; develops plans and strategies for initiating large interdisciplinary external research grant applications; and furthers research income growth across all disciplines. To accomplish these goals, she is leading her team in facilitating and promoting the success of Carleton researchers, while ensuring the submission of high-quality applications for national and international grants and awards.
