Office of Research Ethics
The Office of Research Ethics oversees research approvals at Carleton University to ensure that research with humans, animals, biohazards and controlled goods meets the highest ethical and regulatory standards in Canada.
Our team serves as a research ethics resource for the Carleton research community and governs the following boards and committees:
- Carleton University Research Ethics Boards for research involving human participants:
- Animal Care Committee for research involving animal subjects
- Biohazards Committee for research involving biohazardous materials
- Controlled Goods Program for research involving goods subject to government regulations
All research conducted by members of our community must be cleared by the appropriate board or committee, including research at Carleton, off-campus and projects approved by another academic institution.
