Simon Brascoupé is an Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. He was the Acting Chief Executive Officer, National Aboriginal Health Organization is a member of Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation, Maniwaki, Quebec. He has a strong interest in traditional medicine and traditional knowledge, and conducts research and training on cultural competency and safety. He has been involved internationally on Indigenous environmental issues, particularly the protection of Indigenous knowledge.
