Matthew Holahan

Holahan is available to discuss drug abuse, aging, brain injuries and many other related subjects. He is specifically interested in discussing topics related to memory, concussions, Alzheimer’s and the basics of brain function.

Holahan has been studying the brain for 20 years.  His research interests include brain development, memory, addiction and concussions.  He has taught numerous lecture and seminar courses over the past six years on the complex functions of the brain, the ever-so popular topic of drugs and behaviour and a highly relevant course on brain diseases. He has made a number of presentations on concussions to the public.  He is deeply engaged in community outreach, giving talks about the brain and brain injury to primary and secondary schools and a variety of groups in the Ottawa community.

Robert J. Coplan
Director of the Pickering Centre for Research in Human Development and a professor in the Department of Psychology

Coplan is available to discuss issues related to the development of anxiety in childhood. His research interests are in the areas of children’s socio-emotional functioning and developmental psychopathology. In particular, he is interested in the development of shyness, social withdrawal and social anxiety in childhood. Many of his recent research projects have focused on the costs and benefits of solitude in childhood, the challenges faced by shy and anxious children at school, and the meaning and implications of shyness and social withdrawal across different cultures.

Moore is available to discuss mental health and the law. Moore has researched and written on prisoners’ rights for the past 15 years.  She is working with a team of researchers across the country alongside community organizations to increase transparency within the federal and provincial penal systems.
