“The goal of my research is to advance our understanding of how environmental regulations affect economies so we can have informed policy debates. This CRC also allows me to involve students directly in research and help train the next generation of scholars.”

Environmental regulations affect the structure of the economy by altering the decisions of where businesses choose to locate and how they produce. Cherniwchan’s research program focuses on how these policies shape economic activity by studying their effects on the manufacturing sector. This research will increase understanding of how these policies have impacted manufacturing activity both within and across industries and regions, and will quantify the consequences of these impacts on economic well-being.
