Pat O’Malley was named the Canada Research Chair in Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2005. His research at the time focused on looking at how social problems are commonly managed in terms of the risks they present and understanding how and why prediction and prevention have become central to modern government. His objective was an increased theoretical and practical knowledge of how governments deal with public security.
Pat O’Malley left Carleton but returned in 2013 as an Adjunct Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.
