MacNeil’s research focuses on labour and employment issues, especially focusing on Canadian collective bargaining law and trade union rights. His focus is on internal trade union affairs and freedom of association. He also has extensive interest in issues relating to Internet regulation, privacy and surveillance.

Milanovic’s current research interests are divided between international and domestic law.  On the local level, he focuses on the legal status of the collective agreement in Canadian law.  In particular, he has studied recent reforms to bankruptcy and insolvency law that have impacted enforcement of the collective agreement. With respect to the international realm, he has focused on the governance gaps created by globalization.
