On Friday, April 15, 2016, Terry Beech, parliamentary secretary for Science, will announce the recipients of the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund — designed to help universities attract and retain the best and brightest researchers from around the world by giving them access to state-of-the-art research tools.

Media are invited to attend both the funding announcement as well as a short research demonstration in advance of the speaking portion.

Research demonstration

When: Friday, April 15, 2016 at 8:45 a.m.

Where: Chemistry Superlab, second floor, Steacie Building, Carleton University

What: The demonstration will cover a small electrochemical reactor that a Carleton research team is using to study the treatment of contaminants in wastewater generated by the oil sands industry. This is a great photo opportunity.
