Animal Ethics

The Office of the Vice-President (Research, Innovation and International)’s Office of Research Ethics and Security supports cutting-edge science while ensuring that the use of animal subjects in research and teaching conforms to the most rigorous ethical standards.

Our team leads the Animal Care Committee (ACC), which meets monthly to grant approvals for proposed research involving the use of animals at Carleton. To ensure full compliance with the Canadian Council on Animal Care and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, we also coordinate Animal Care and Veterinary Services.

All research involving animals conducted by faculty, staff, or students at Carleton University must be approved by the ACC.
